They say “give someone their flowers while they are still here”. The Chicago House Community did that this past Saturday Evening, paying tribute to Terry Hunter in an epic celebration featuring some of the most talented DJs and artists in Chicago. Hosted by Angie Tee (ICEHOUSEPEOPLE) and organized by Greg Winfield (T’sBox Records), the evening was a moment to give those who have been impacted by Terry Hunter to show him some love and appreciation. Fellow Chosen Few DJs, Alan King and Andre Hatchett joined Dee Jay Alicia, DJ Emmaculate and Greg Winfield on the decks for an evening filled with good music, many of them playing songs that Terry has created and/or produced.
I was fortunate enough to perform for the event, opening the performances for the evening. Singers, Chantay Savage and surprise Guest, Terisa Griffith brought the house down with their powerhouse vocals! Each of us sharing the common bond of having Terry Hunter produced music. The love in the room was infectious and you could feel how connected the house community is to one of our own. Showered with gifts from those who loved him, Terry’s smile lit up a room. Forever humble, Terry graciously thanked everyone in attendance and proceeded to play a set that kept us grooving late into the night.
In spite of the freezing temperatures outside, inside the Wild Blossom Winery was warm, intimate and full of love for one of our very own.
Until next time,
See you on a dance floor
