IT'S MY "BLOG-AVERSRY"!!!

Today is my One Year BLOGAVERSARY!!! That’s right, one year ago today, I launched Black Widow’s Web! Check out my very first post HERE!   I launched this website initially to promote my music and other projects.  As time progressed, my thoughts shifted.  Chicago is home to a thriving house music scene.  We are fortunate to be the birthplace of this incredible genre of music we call house. I started thinking about all the amazing DJs, artists, producers, music and parties in our city and noticed there wasn’t a space for our stories to be told.  It’s so important to tell the story of our culture and to preserve it in some way for future generations, sharing our experiences and the wealth that is the Chicago House Scene.  I wanted to document my experience as a lover of house music and as a house music recording artist.  This website would be my contribution to sharing that rich story.

A Tribute to One of Our Own

A Tribute to One of Our Own

Presented by Arise Radio and RFK Promotions, the 2nd Annual Chuckfest featured some of Kim’s favorite DJs.  Black Terry, DJ Cheez, Dee Jay Alicia, Tobi G, James Vincent and Philander Gaters.  Everyone came to pay homage to Kim Carter-Gueringer wearing their favorite pair of Converse, a/k/a Chuck Taylors.  Some wore specially designed shirts created by artist, RagTyme Designs.  A portion of the evening's proceeds also went to benefit Kim’s children.  As I entered bassline, I felt the love

Painted, Dark and Divine: The 2017 Summer Debauchery Ball-Winter Baby's Revenge

Painted, Dark and Divine: The 2017 Summer Debauchery Ball-Winter Baby's Revenge

Created by Chicago artist, Khari B a/k/a Discopoet with sounds provided by DJ Bill Will and Craig Alexander, The Debauchery Ball, Winter Babies Revenge is an AfroFuturistic, fetish-themed summer party held every summer.   This year’s theme was “Painted, Dark and Divine”.   The WBR encourages patrons to delve deeply into themselves and pull out that fearless, sensual, uninhibited divine being that resides within and adorn accordingly.   In Khari’s own words, this production is part of a continued mission to inspire, educate and empower audiences as to their own greatness while adding to the spectrum of how the art can be expressed over multiple mediums for a more lasting experience.   The entire event is a tasteful, erotically themed event where music, movement, art and spirituality are synergized for a most memorable event.

From The Heart To The Dancefloor: The Mothers of House 2017

From The Heart To The Dancefloor: The Mothers of House 2017

There are moments as a house lover that stay with me; close to my heart.  Our parties are more than great music and positive people, house people chase a vibe when they head out to party.  Saturday night, I attended the Mothers of House Celebration.  I had an opportunity to sit down with the three amazing DJs who were the sound conductors for this event last week. You can read that I interview here.  I knew after speaking with them, that I was in for something special and they did not disappoint.  This is the 2nd year the Mothers of House celebration has taken place. The brainchild of DJ Ike Williams, he created a party to celebrate all of the mothers in the Chicago House scene.  Every single detail was covered and the mom’s in attendance felt the love and appreciation.  There were special t-shirts and merchandise created and sold by Nikki Hill in honor of the occasion.  Michelle Sloan covered every detail; from beautifully decorated tables, the delicious catered meal, the gift bags complete with roses, candles and a special USB full of music from Dee Jay Alicia, Mz. Nicky Dvine, and DJ Lady D. The entire evening was a beautiful gift.

Sisters in House! The Ladies Take Over the Decks!!

It was another OUTSTANDING night in Chicago House!   Renaissance Wednesdays’ hosted by promoters Reggie Corner, Ronda Flowers, and Robert “Koko” Walker, is a weekly party that showcases the best in soulful house music in an intimate environment. The club was packed early with people who were ready to hear the soulful styles of two of Chicago’s hottest female DJ’s; Dee Jay Alicia and Mz. Nicky D’Vine.  It was the ladies turn to bless the tables at the Renaissance Bronzeville. The location was the perfect setting for a sexy and soulful evening of house music.  The energy at Renaissance was high; the room was filled with familiar faces.   It was the middle of the week but people came out to party, have a good time and take the stress of the day off.
