CHOSEN FEW FESTIVAL 2017: PT. 1-PREPARING FOR THE FESTIVAL

The Chosen Few Festival is two weeks away and my friends and I are already planning for two days filled with music and fun. Over the next two weeks, I'll be sharing some of my favorite tips, tricks and helpful hints for navigating the festival. Today's post is for the people I call my "1st Responders". And We Danced...

And We Danced...

I’ve said it before but Chicago is a large city with an enormous amount of talent within it. As a result, on any given weekend, but particularly on holiday weekends, there are usually several parties with some of the best DJ’s in the business preforming at various around the city on one night.  As a fan and patron, your options are plentiful. This past Sunday alone had Mike Dunn and Farley Jackmaster funk in the south suburbs at N’Zuri Entertainment Center, The Chosen Few DJs on the Southside in Hyde Park at the Promontory, Jamie 326 in the Pilsen/southwest side area, and a Frankie Knuckles tribute on the north side at Smart Bar. That’s in addition to the countless other parties that were held in smaller venues from the south, north, east and west sides.  If you live in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs you literally have a place to go no matter what side of town you live on to hear quality house music.

The docuseries was ambitious considering Chicago House history is rich, layered and full of so many stories of music, parties and creativity. I applaud TV One for telling a portion of the history of house music and a portion of the life and career of Frankie Knuckles
