9 Years Strong!

Nine years ago, an idea was born to host a party on the Southside with nothing but house music on a Tuesday night.  The party grew and became a staple on the Chicago House Music Scene.  Each Tuesday night, house people come and pack Reynolds until the early morning hours.  Resident DJ’s Tony T and Mike Dunn have been the musical conductors each week directing dancer’s movements through a symphony of house music. Dancers gather to hear the classics, soulful and afro beats delivered by Tony T & Mike Dunn.  Hosted by Curt Ford, Reynolds is home to some of the best house music you will hear in Chicago.

This past Tuesday was the 9th anniversary of the “We R Tuesday Nights” house party at Reynolds, and it did not disappoint.  Reynolds is usually packed on most Tuesdays, so I knew to get there early for this occasion.  The mood was festive from the time I walked through the doors with the club beautifully decorated by Louis Lazu.  The club was decorated in black and silver with disco balls and records hanging from the ceilings and dancer’s silhouettes across the wall.  Dancers packed the floor carving out theirspace to groove.    These are individuals who have partied together weekly for the past nine years, so the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and love.  People were greeting one another with hugs and laughter throughout the night. The dancefloor was filled with happy faces, sweaty bodies and dancing feet.  It was a beautiful 60+ degree night, the energy was electric, and the music was irresistible.

DJ Tony T opened the celebratory night with a dominating set full of strong beats and rhythms.  The dance floor was packed with people screaming and shouting in musical agreement.  Next up was Chosen Few DJ and Producer, Terry Hunter. He kicked off his set with his signature soulful sound conducting the crowd with ease.  DJ Mike Dunn, who closed the evening, played a set that paid tribute to the music that made Reynolds the success that it is. It was a musical trifecta of house music that kept the crowd moving and grooving all night long! What I loved most about the evening were the last moments of Mike's set, it was a musical thank you letter to the patrons who have supported "We R Tuesday" nights at Reynolds over the years and the crowd received it with love.

Congrats Mike, Tony T and Curt and staff on 9 amazing years! The Best is yet to come!

Until next time,

See you on a dance floor!
