Love in the Music

It’s Valentine’s Day.  The day we celebrate love and the joy it brings. We send gifts and messages to the ones we love as a token of our appreciation for the love they bring into our lives.   Most of my experiences in love can be summed up by music and song.   They trigger the memories that I hold dear; memories of love, lust, friendship and heartache.   Love and music share a unique bond connecting the feelings we have inside layering them onto rhythms and sounds that make us dance.   Love is a common theme in our music.  Whether it’s about new love, a tried and true love, a love rekindled or the loss of love, and heartache, listening to a song in a mix or dancing to a track on a dance floor, the music can trigger a memory, feeling or moment in time.   Music is constant reminder of how connected we are to one another; bound by common shared experiences. The lyrics in the songs we enjoy perfectly express how we feel about a person or experience.   These songs beautifully describe the feelings of love, passion, lust, sex and infatuation.   Honest and raw lyrics that tear at your heartstrings and remind you of a love lost or heartache and the songs that remind you that love is still possible.   Music is the soundtrack to many of our life’s experiences, especially in matters of the heart.

House music is music rooted in love.  It’s evident watching house people on a dance floor.   The dancefloor can be a sexy place with hot, sweaty bodies dancing close to each other as baselines drop and lyrics permeate the atmosphere.  Songs saturated with themes of love, heartache, relationships and sex cover dance floors in a blanket of sound.   The music triggers the heart and mind reminding us of memories precious and dear to us.

I wanted to share a very small portion my personal playlist of house/dance songs and some of my favorite mixes from some of my favorite artist that perfectly describe the “love experience”.  Hope you enjoy!  (All available on unless noted)
