This Thanksgiving weekend became a “Dance-giving” weekend with some of the top names in the House Music Scene hosting events this weekend. The weekend kicked off Wednesday with "I Live for Wednesday’s" featuring Josh Milan, Jon Pierce, DJ Rick Godson Wilhite and DJ Torin Edmond. Grammy Nominated Singer Songwriter, DJ and Producer, Josh Milan, has a incredible following in Chicago and his music is frequently played across dance floors and clubs all over the city. He spun some of his most recognizeable hits along with some soulful sounds from other amazing artists. Chicago artist, Jon Pierce sang his hit song, Never, for the crowd. DJs Torin Edmond and Rick Wilhite spun soulful house jams for a jammed packed crowd. Thanksgiving evening brought house people to the Promontory for the Chosen Few DJs, “The Giving”. This event featured the “Young Guns”, two up and coming house music DJs who aren’t old enough to enter a club as patrons! 11-year-old Chicago DJ Marcellus and 16-year-old DJ Ameer from New Jersey wowed the crowd with their impressive DJ skills and song selection. The Chosen Few DJs opened with a tag team from Mike Dunn and Terry Hunter, followed by another tag team by Alan King and Andre Hatchett then closed the evening with Wayne Williams. It was the perfect way to dance off that gigantic Thanksgiving meal we all enjoyed with our families and friends. Black Friday brought another round of events to kick off the extended weekend. Home Cookin at the Boom Boom Room featured DJs Mike Dunn, Gene Hunt, David Sabat and Just Joey at Estate Nightclub. Then Saturday, Ron Trent joined Francois K and Peter Croce for Dancing In Outer Space. Hosted by, Chicago Legend, Robert Williams and held at Elastic Arts on the north side, the event was a tribute to legend, David Mancuso and was filled with some of the best in new and eclectic house music. Sunday closed the weekend out with Soulfrica Sundays, the weekly party at Renaissance Bronzeville with resident DJs Greg Winfield and Terry Hunter. This week’s guest DJ was Mike Dunn. Greg Winfield, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn brought the house down with a music gumbo filled with hot afro beats and soulful dance tracks.
