From The Heart To The Dancefloor: The Mothers of House 2017

From The Heart To The Dancefloor: The Mothers of House 2017

There are moments as a house lover that stay with me; close to my heart.  Our parties are more than great music and positive people, house people chase a vibe when they head out to party.  Saturday night, I attended the Mothers of House Celebration.  I had an opportunity to sit down with the three amazing DJs who were the sound conductors for this event last week. You can read that I interview here.  I knew after speaking with them, that I was in for something special and they did not disappoint.  This is the 2nd year the Mothers of House celebration has taken place. The brainchild of DJ Ike Williams, he created a party to celebrate all of the mothers in the Chicago House scene.  Every single detail was covered and the mom’s in attendance felt the love and appreciation.  There were special t-shirts and merchandise created and sold by Nikki Hill in honor of the occasion.  Michelle Sloan covered every detail; from beautifully decorated tables, the delicious catered meal, the gift bags complete with roses, candles and a special USB full of music from Dee Jay Alicia, Mz. Nicky Dvine, and DJ Lady D. The entire evening was a beautiful gift.

9 Years Strong!

9 Years Strong!

Nine years ago, an idea was born to host a party on the Southside with nothing but house music on a Tuesday night.  The party grew and became a staple on the Chicago House Music Scene.  Each Tuesday night house people come out and pack Reynolds and stay until the early morning hours.  Resident DJ’s Tony T and Mike Dunn have been the musical conductors each week directing dancer’s movements through a symphony of house music. Each week dancers gather to hear the classics, soulful and afro beats delivered by Tony T & Mike Dunn.  Hosted by Curt Ford, Reynolds is home to some of the best music you will hear in Chicago.

So Good They Had To Do It Again!!

So Good They Had To Do It Again!!

So about Wednesday night…

I headed out to catch two of the best female DJ’s, Dee Jay Alicia and Mz. Nicky D’Vine tear the roof off the Renaissance for the 2nd time.  I previously wrote about their 1st night at the Renaissance here!  Check it out if you need a refresher.   It is clear to me that when these two ladies get together it is pure magic.  Last night was no exception.  I stepped into the Renaissance with a room full of positive energy. The mood at Renaissance was absolutely electric. The place was buzzing with people laughing, drink and dancing.   These two DJ's walked into the Renaissance ready to give “musical service” to the people.

Peace, Love & House!

Peace, Love & House!

Saturday I found myself at the MID for I love House Music Saturdays.  This week’s sound conductors were Mega Rousseau, John Simmons, Czboogie, David Sabat and Mike Dunn.  The party located in the “Century Room” at the MID is a more private party room located in the back of the MID nightclub.  It’s smaller and much more intimate.  Lush Red Velvet curtains, crystal chandeliers, and red wallpaper create a sexy atmosphere.
