Eric Roberson returned to Chicago this past weekend for 3 sold out shows at City Winery. A longtime Chicago Favorite, Eric Roberson is known for his intimate live shows. I attended Thursday night’s performance and enjoyed every moment of it. Opening act, Laurin Talese has one of the most soulful voices I’ve heard in a long time. She is an artist with depth and range. I was unfamiliar with her prior to this performance but immediately added her to all of my streaming services so I could listen to more of her incredible voice.
Eric Roberson is more than an incredible artist with an ever growing catalog of hits. On stage he is fun, personable and relatable. He’s completely connected and engaged with his audience. From his funny stories of marriage and the joys of raising children, a classical rendition of Biggie Smalls Classics, to inviting audience members to participate in the songwriting process, Eric is an artist that truly enjoys connecting and performing for his fans. He thrilled audiences with forthcoming music and music from his previous albums!
He knew he couldn’t leave Chicago without performing the Chicago House favorite, “Change for Me”. He thrilled the audience with an encore that was a complete celebration of Chicago House Music that turned city winery into a House Music Dance party! Everyone was on their feet! Ever humble and gracious, he greeted fans after the show taking photos and signing autographs. It was another incredible night of live music at City Winery Chicago!
City Winery has done an outstanding job of bringing music of all genres to Chicago. I’m looking forward to the next some of the upcoming shows. For more information and a schedule, check out www.citywinery.com/chicago
